Thermographic Imaging

A-C Electric is proud to present its new FLIR Thermal Imaging Services. Let us take a few minutes to show you the services that we offer that can save your company valuable time and money. Through predictive maintenance we can help you keep up and running.

Prevention is always better than cure, especially where electricity is concerned. A professional thermal survey allows you to detect electrical faults before the components fail. And because it’s non-intrusive, it’s extremely fast and efficient.

Thermographic imaging, commonly known as “infrared scanning”, is one such service. It is a cost effective method to limit or prevent unscheduled shutdowns and power outages at your facility.

If you had an undetected problem in your facility and were to have a catastrophic failure how much could it cost you in:

Now what if you caught it before anything happened?

  • Parts?
  • Labor?
  • Down Time?
  • Lost Product?
  • Lost Revenue?

You could effectively schedule a minor shutdown and fix the problem in 20 minutes with little to no affect on your facility?

FAQ

How does thermal imaging work?

Our high tech thermal imaging equipment measures the emitted infrared radiation from an object. The fact that radiation is a function of object surface temperature makes it possible for the camera to calculate and display this temperature in our choice of several useful color palettes. Our true infrared camera captures this information in a digital image file and lets us see the temperature of each pixel in the screen.

How can thermal imaging save me money?

With regular thermal imaging scans, problems can be detected before failure occurs. From diagnosing an overheating transformer before it explodes, to a loose connection in a panel before it causes a fire, we can pinpoint problems without having to open up walls. Our thermal imaging procedures provide early diagnosis, noninvasive testing, and pre-failure detection of faults, which can add significantly to your bottom line, both directly and via insurance discounts.

What industries can thermal imaging help?

Commercial customers enjoy more reliable equipment operation, avoid costly down time, and predict and budget for repairs. Residential clients benefit because thermal images can pinpoint water intrusion, pest locations, energy losses, and upgrade opportunities. Customers in industrial and municipal settings benefit from increased safety, reduced costs, and a better public image from superior up time and lower accident rates.

Is thermal imaging cost effective?

Thermal imaging is cost effective for many reasons. One of the most important is that infrared scanning and analysis is non-invasive. We don’t need to drill holes, remove tile, or otherwise open things up to show you where the source of the problem is. Another reason is that through preventive maintenance exams, customers can see stressed components before they actually fail. Thermal scans are also extraordinarily cost effective when shopping for real estate because they allow the purchaser to evaluate a potential property for differences in long-term operating costs. When it comes to the domestic scene, a CBC thermal exam can help homeowners increase energy efficiency and create a healthier indoor environment, which provides long-term savings on utilities and health care.

What does a thermal report look like?

Yes, we write detailed reports, making it easy for you to understand what you’re looking at. We also include a True light digital picture with each thermal picture. Each thermal image has its own scale showing the temperature range captured on the screen in that moment. Whether the hottest spot in a given images is 25℉ or 550℉ the scale captured alongside each picture will let us read the evidence. We’ll describe what’s in each picture and provide notes on site and job specific conditions, eliminating guess work.

How much can I expect to pay?

Every situation has its own variables, and all our thermal services are competitively priced, so don’t hesitate to call us for further discussion of the details of your project. If an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, thermal imaging is priceless.

How far will we travel?

We will travel any were at any time, to keep our customers happy and to help new ones. Most of our work takes place in Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas, but we will travel to any destination for the cost of our services plus travel and other related expenses.

What is preventive maintenance?

Preventive maintenance is the use of thermal images to evaluate the condition of property and or equipment. By using infrared cameras we can show you what is hot and what is not.

What is predictive maintenance?

Predictive maintenance = Techniques help determine the condition of in-service equipment in order to predict when maintenance should be performed. This approach offers cost savings over routine or time-based preventive maintenance, because tasks are performed only when warranted. ( From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Thermal imaging can help you and your business keep small changes from becoming catastrophes. Thermal scans can show you where problems are starting to occur. We can show you overheated motor bearings, excessive heat in wiring, and many other potential sources of massive failure. Knowledge like this can save on down time, decrease parts inventory, and allow you to schedule repairs when it’s convenient for you.

This is a service that we can do to help you find problem areas in your facility and fix them before you have a catastrophic event that costs your company thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Thermal imaging is a fast, effective, non-invasive, process that will help you uncover problem areas before they become a real big disaster!
